I've known The Lion for a number of years and it used to be a dingy run down pub. The transformation is incredible! You walk inside and it's difficult to remember how it was before! Food is fantastic, great portioning, flavours and pricing. If you go to Blaenavon, don't leave without trying The Lion first!

I managed to find this hotel at the last minute as we had a change of plans for attending a friends wedding in Crickhowell. The price was very reasonable for the room and included parking and breakfast.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful.
The room was modern, clean and spacious and there was a grand looking bath tub in the bathroom.
There was a good choice for the breakfast, there was bread fruit and juice. You could pick a cooked breakfast from the menu.
My father didnt attend the wedding but had the afternoon to explore the area. He found it quite interesting.
I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

If you want really good food, I mean REALLY good food you have to try the Lion. Even the burgers are amazing at lunchtime. Made from local beef they are bound to be.
The evening menu is just fabulous. It can easily compete with the best that Cardiff has to offer.

I booked this at 8.30pm due to working in the area and needed to stay over. Even though the restaurant was shutting by the time we would arrive they still took our order and couldn't be more helpful. The reception we got at after 9pm and the was food was excellent and beer was good too. Many thanks.
